What the Skibidi?

In the first episode of Talking Trends, Miriam produced a story about the new slang used by Generation Alpha, the group born between 2010 and 2024. While phrases like “slay” and “period” have become common, newer terms such as “what the skibidi?” and “you’re so Ohio” are changing the way young people communicate.

To better understand these language trends, Lydia and Ren interviewed middle school teacher Lizette Belmonte. She shared her experiences hearing this slang in the classroom and how she works to understand her students and connect with them.

As a producer, Miriam guided the episode from planning to final production. She helped shape the story, coordinated the interview, and oversaw the audio editing and sound to ensure the episode was clear, engaging, and ready for publication.
